History Podcast Sk8 Events

Since January 1998, White Chocolate has been helping people of all ages from the Sunflower State (aka Kansas) get their skate on. But White Chocolate is more than just your average skateshop.

Shoes, apparel, incense, dvds & books, even body jewelry (at the Hays
location) are all part of the flavorful mix. Throw in the occassional in-store art show, live DJ, and a two skateboard contests each fall and spring and you've got White Chocolate.

Our Hays store opened in January 1998. Small in size -- 450 square feet -- and a bit off the beaten path -- located at 333 E. 8th Street -- we opened White Chocolate with a vision and a determination that coincided with the building of the Hays Skatepark. In October of 2002, we moved White Chocolate to its current location -- 810 Main Street -- a much bigger space with two large display windows, wooden floors and plenty of room to showcase our inventory.

In 2005, we opened our second store in Lawrence, Kansas. A curious reporter for lawrence.com, Miles Bonny, dropped by to do an interview. The result was n8soundcast No. 8. If you'd like to listen to the interview with Rod Smith, one of White Chocolate's owners, please click here.

While not as spacious as our Hays store, White Chocolate - Lawrence is part of a vibrant downtown Lawrence retail scene. Being downtown provides many opportunities to get involved in our community.

Interaction which we feel will only foster greater possibilities for White Chocolate. Stop by and check out the flavor! For our current shop hours, please click over to the Contact page.
